Beef (bovine) collagen is the most common type of dog collagen — hydrolyzed peptides that provide type I & III, the collagens of skin, coat, tendons and gut. It’s well tolerated, tasteless and good value, and it’s the standard source in most powders and many liquids. The one caveat: it’s a beef protein, so it’s not suitable for beef-allergic dogs — choose marine collagen instead.
What beef collagen provides
Bovine collagen supplies type I and III — the structural collagens of skin, coat, tendon, ligament and gut lining. Hydrolyzed (broken into peptides), it absorbs well and is used mainly for skin, coat and connective-tissue support.
Is beef collagen good for dogs?
Yes, for most dogs without a beef allergy — it’s a well-tolerated, good-value source for skin, coat and connective tissue. For joints, look for a product that also includes UC-II.
