Our product reviews follow a fixed, repeatable method. Here is exactly what we do.
We score five criteria
Absorption & form (30%) — hydrolyzed peptides in a liquid absorb more reliably than large-molecule collagen in a chew, and the dog has to actually eat it. Collagen type & quality (25%) — UC-II for joints, hydrolyzed type I & III for skin and coat; named types beat vague blends. Added actives (20%) — evidence-backed synergists like omega-3, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. Allergen profile (15%) — source matched away from common triggers. Value (10%) — cost per effective daily dose, not sticker price.
We read the current label
We record each product’s collagen source, types, and added ingredients from the manufacturer’s own current label, with the date reviewed, and compare in the correct units. We do not accept payment for placement in our rankings.
We grade the evidence
We map each ingredient to what the peer-reviewed canine literature actually shows and grade it accordingly. See our collagen guide and UC-II page.
